On my 57 Fury, the frame (engine) number was so faintly stamped, that
it was just about impossible to see, but a good wire brushing soon exposed
it. Mine is located on the TOP of the frame rail, on the driver's side,
25 inches towards the front of the car from the front eye bush of the leaf
springs. In relation to the body, this is about 6 inches towards the rear
of the car from the rear edge of the drivers door.
I took a few photos of it before I painted the frame. After painting
it is just about invisible again.

OK!! I have a frame of a '57 Fury, but I can't find the body number that is
supposed to be embossed on the rear part of the frame.  It's pretty rusty.
Do you guys think that the rust has eroded the number enough that you
wouldn't be able to see the number.  I used a wire brush on the driver's side
part which goes over the rear axel, but not the passenger side.  Where is the
number usually found?  On the top or on the side of the frame?  Any kind of
direction would be great.  Thanks in advance.
