First, congratulations on the purchase of the convertible!

     I am with dave on this one...the only way to repair your door mechanism
is to take off the inside door panel, which is a royal pain when the door
won't open to give you access! The armrest comes off with two phillips
screws, but the door handle and window crank are held on by some clever, but
tricky-to-release clips.
I use a flashlight, knee pressure and a screwdriver to manipulate the clip
into releasing.  (Yes, there is a Mopar Tool for this purpose, but precious
few of us have them.)
Once inside, you will find it is either something has come apart, or
something has bent or broke, as the outside door handle parts will do if the
lock is sticky and some impatient person yanks on the Kelvinator handle too
many times. If broken, you will have to hit the junkyards for a replacement.
