Re: [FWDLK] truck hemi exhaust manifolds

Hi Ron,

The truck manifolds were used in the '55-56 NASCAR 300s so there is no
reason that they won't fit in your '55 NYer. They have a 4-bolt exit flange
and that port is 2.5" diameter. Remember now, there is no provision in
these manifolds for heat for your carburetor choke.
Sanderson Headers should be a fully viable alternative. I know they can be
adapted to fit into the '57 Chrysler engine bay but don't personally know if
anyone has fitted them into a '55-56.

Subject: truck hemi exhaust manifolds

I am interested in the information on hemi exhaust manifolds. Are the ones
on the truck engines significantly different? If so I wonder if they would
clear the steering and frame on the 55 New Yorker. Anybody know what size
exhaust pipe attaches to the truck manifolds. The exhaust system on the 55
really chokes it down, just a disgustingly puny 1 3/4". I have been
thinking of going to headers with a 2" - 2 1/2" exhaust so the sucker can
breathe but if truck manifolds would do the trick, then maybe. Does anybody
know?
