Re: [FWDLK] Virus alert

That used to be the case, but the latest generation of virus authors are taking advantage of a vulnerability in Microsoft's Outlook Express which allows them to embed virus scripts into the actual text of an email message.  When you open the message, the script runs and "installs" itself into your system.  From then on, any email that you send will have the same virus script embedded into it.  For more info on the particular virus that was recently sent to the list (called the JS/Kak@M worm virus) and how to remove it, you can go to http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=10509.  Apparently, only users of Outlook Express need to be concerned as the virus is only effective when opened with this program.

I'm confused.  Thought a virus could only be spread through attachments, not simple e-mails.
