Curving the exhaust pipes down is a great idea.  A while back I ignored my
friends' advice and ran the exhaust pipes thru the bumper in my '55
Cad-----.  Within five years the perfectly good pods had rotted out at the
bottom.  Never again [but none of my present cars are that fancy anyways].
