Gee, that sounds like one that I ran across in Northern California in 1971. It was in Etna, and parked in front of the house next door to some friends at the time. My friends had a '64 Lincoln Sedan and it was really nice, but the Imperial next door had seen much better days, and it wasn't even that old! The exterior was beat, the interior was in tatters, it had no wheel covers, and the exhaust system was nearly gone. I didn't know that it was still being used until one day the woman that lived there drove it away. Later that day it was back, amazingly! It was a Crown Four Door, White with a Blue fabric and leather interior. Months later my friend's mother told me that one day she had gone for a ride in it. She reported that it rode as bad as it looked. Her exact words were that "it rode like an old truck". She knew what that meant, too. Her husband drove a 1948 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup and it was SHOT! I was always sad that that poor old Imperial had deteriorated to the point where it was being compared unfavorably to a worn out 1948 Chevy truck, and it was only 7 years old!
