You're right... why go cast iron when I can go aluminum. The reason I guess was to try to keep from having to pay $350-$600 for the adaptor plate. But if I'm going this far I might as well put something right in there instead of whatever fits. I'm considering doing away with the column shift and go with a B&M floor shifter. This is still in the planning stage, I'm heading up next weekend to pick up the car and swing by and get the engine. I did see HotHeads at GoodGuys and will probably go with them since they are semi-local and had everything I was looking for... and the prices seem to be all about the same wherever you shop.
