Jason, The correct float is a brass unit, soldered in the middle. I wonder if your sending unit has been installed 180 degrees off? The pick-up tube should be near the bottom of the tank and the float should be able to get close to the bottom as well. It could just be the wrong item as well. There should be a part number stamped on the round plate (the outside surface) that seals against the gasket. Mine did not show at all until it was sand blasted. That will be the defining information. Mike
