in 1969 i bought my first car with an auto trans.---it was a 61 ply.conv.318 with a torqueflite---paid $475.00---it had 37000 mi.---drove it a week trans. failed!!!!---it was a dealer car and was guaranteed for 90 days and was repaired with no problem(cost to dealer$75.00)---at 19 yrs.old i had already spent 6 yrs.driving a stick---when trans failed in the 61 i vowed never to own an auto. trans. again---but as life goes---i have---but very few---but here is my opinion---i would never go from standard to auto---unless to go back to a factory stock---i have thought a hundred times of going to standard in my 60 dart---but it wasn't delivered that way---so it is going to stay an automatic---i in my opinion have never liked automatics and never will---hard headed-old fashioned!!!!!!---YES I AM-------a little info about the dealer that sold me the 61---he had 5 cars on the lot when he sold me the car---over the years he has grown to a multi state-multi make dealer with 5 new car dealerships---what it all boils down to is build your car the way you want!!!!---but i like standards---later---chuck lowe
