This discussion about unusual cars (Amb ulances/Hearses, etc)made me think of the unusually equipped '58 Desoto Firesweep Sportsman (2-door hardtop) that I recen ntly acquired. It has to be the most "bare bones", stripped down version of that car that I have ever seen. It is solid black with standard red interior, only one piece of side trim down each side of the car (no lower piece), no radio, poverty hubcaps, the standard 350 2-bbl V-8, and 3-speed stick transmission with column shift. The only option that it has at all is a heater and that may have been dealer added. Since Desotos were sort of an upscale car, I was surprisd to find one like this. Any one else seen one equipped this way or have any idea if they built some of these this way for govt. agencies or something? Just curious. Jim
