I have a 1963 Plymouth Belvedere 4 dr sedan that is currenty hosting the slant 6 pushbutton trans. I want to swap in my 1961 Dodge Phoenix's Poly 318 and v8 torqueflite into this car until my 383 (from 59 fireflite) is finished rebuild. Im running into problems swapping in the older torqueflite due to the emergency brake drum at the end of the transmission. the 63 did not have this feature anymore (in fact i believe that stopped in 62). I am wondering if there is anyway that i can remove the emergency brake assembly from the 61 transmission so that it will fit in this car without hacking up my perfect floor pans. Is it possible to swap tailshafts with a 62-4 v8 torqueflite or do i just need to get a whole new transmission? Also, in swaping in this transmission, it will disable the park lever in my dash (which is connected to a cable linked to a gear in the trans .. almost like modern trans but activated by a lever). The car does have a park brake which is a pedal that activates the rear brakes. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance ~Jessica
