Can you measure the inside of the trans and outside off the trans cable and get a machine shop to turn you a brass furrel. Maybe a little interference fit to prevent leaks. As a thought on a similiar bent, using a brass comression fitting that is close and sanding, filing etc to fit? I had a similar problem on another application but I has the old cable I drilled the old cable end out so the new cable end fit inside then put the whole thing in, so the old end sealed the casing and the new end sealed the cable.
