'Cos that's what I'm going to do myself. I have a 1961 poly 313 with a 466 tranny and shall be putting a 1963 Belevedere small block V8 TF in. Pitfall is the crank output end: you will need to have a post 1962 crankshaft as well, because the 1961 crank will not fit with the converter/tranny input shaft. Other than finding somewhere to put the park lever inside the car, I HOPE that's it! If anyone now comes up and says different, it'll be bad news for the two of us. (Oh, all this is assuming you have a small block poly V8 like mine...... and you can't in that case use a later BB 727. I don't know what the situation is if you have a six in your car). Why don't you go ahead and put yours in first, and then tell me what went wrong 8-))
