You can pull out the neutral safety switch, put the tranny in reverse, and the the NS switch hole use a slender flathead to gently push against the spring lock that retains the cable while easily pulling on the cable (after loosening the adjuster wheel of course) I believe the spring lock on the 60/61 trannies is the same method used on the earlier cast iron torqueflite...but only the springlock method of retaining the cable. most other stuff is different. don't forget to drain about 2 qts of fluid.
