Swapping a '62-up A or B V8 with its original 3-speed manual behind it is also much easier than chasing down all the pre-62 parts. You can use an LA engine and 3-speed from a Dodge truck, for example (this combo was produced well into the 1980's). You do have some welding and cutting, but if I'm not mistaken the 'universal' SB Chevy crossmember would have to be welded in also. You'll love your hotrod when it's all done,Kenny! My '60 wagon has a 440,A-833 OD and 3:55 Sure-Grip 8¾". The OD tranny has held up very well!
