I haven't even TRIED to make a modern master cylinder work with a 55-61 booster. If someone insisted on power brakes,actually I'd use the '70's era booster,the modifications would at least be easier.
My '60 wagon is manual brakes,and the '73-79 master cylinder is practically a bolt-in swap without any power booster to contend with. The pedal effort is no more than with manual drums (less sometimes). I have to admit that when that antelope got in front of me at 80+ mph,I DID have to hit the pedal HARD. BUT I didn't make antelope stew,as I would have with the drums....
