I didn't find many pits, just a few. I did all the body work at once. Be sure to use an epoxy primer UNDER everything. After trying to get large areas ready for primer, I found it was just as easy to do a few at a time and shoot less primer per session. I used PPG DP epoxy primer under everything and did all my bodywork on top of that. I am not familiar with a clear filler at all. I used a red putty for small scratches and pits. Using wet / dry paper without water seems like a waste of time and money to me. Wet / dry is more expensive than plain dry only paper, and stays sharper and cleaner with water. You will use less paper and get more work done faster with wet sanding. Also, remember that all that sanding dust is staying under your paper without wet sanding, so you are actually sanding with the sanding dust and getting a less than true flat surface on you sanding block. I fear that it is possible that the filler you are using without any primer will not stick as well in the long run. Remember that primer is designed to make paint and filler stick to metal. Let it do it's job and you will be much more happy with the final results. I know it seems like a waste of time to prime now, do filler work, then prime again, but the end results will look better a few years from now. And I'm sure that you don't want to do this kind of thing again to the same car later.
