Re: radio speakers

Gary, that is an excellent source. They state that in early transistorized radios, which I believe my 64 Dodge is,  NOT to use 4 OHM. That could damage your radio.  I think I will contact them directly because there is so much differing opinions . We have to keep in mind , early radios are different from newer ones , and there is more to it than one might think...........................MO

Thanks, Gary, they have some quality stuff!

One speaker in the dash was good enough back then and it still may for some folks (not me!)

There is a place listed on the vendor's page S & M Electro-Tech in the "electrical" section.

They manufacture speakers for classic cars.

From their website:  "Note: Many replacement speakers now sold by the discount stores, auto parts stores and mail
order restoration parts houses are labeled as  "4 to 8 ohm compatible"  and are in fact 4 ohm speakers. These speakers
can damage the older transistor radios."  http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm

They also make a dual stereo speaker "mounted on an 11ga laser cut steel plate cut to match the original Mopar A & B
body 4x10 center dash speaker mounting plate" for those using a modern aftermarket radio in the dash or converting
the original radio's internals to modern electronics.

Thanks,
Gary H.

How many ohms speaker do I need for my stock 1964 Dodge radio front
speaker?  I am thinking about a speaker with the smaller tweeter
speaker(s) integrated in it. Any suggestions
