If you have the 4 post one make sure it is wired right. sounds like a bad ECU box now. Could be frying the ECU with two much juice. I have a 361/727 combo in my 65 Bel. Ever sense I've had it, it had a miss or surge at even RPM. Slightly while idling and more pronounced at around 2000-2500 RPM. My first thought was carburation so I installed a new Holley 600 but the same problem continued. Now I an experiencing a new symptom that I think is related to the original problem. While cursing along at around 40-50 MPH, the engine shuts off as if the ignition was turned off. No back fire, no sputter, just shuts off. After coasting to a stop, it won't start right up, it acts like it's not getting any fire. After sitting for about 10 or 15 minutes, it starts right up. At this point I'm beginning to think I have an ignition problem. It has an after-market electronic ignition, (orange box) it looks as if it's been in place for a long time. Is it possible I need to replace the ECU? Also the coil feels hotter than it should, would a bad coil cause this kind of behavior? Sorry for the long post, but I'm starting to pull the last few hairs I have over this one. Mike P. 1965 Belvedere II Convertible Jax. FL.
