Re: {Chrysler 300} Speakers 300K

For my front speaker on my ’65 I made a mounting panel the same dimension as the original speaker, which I recall was 4” x 10”. I cut two speaker holes in the plate and mounted small Rockford Fosgate speakers to it. It sounds great and avoided the cost of custom speakers. Rear are 6” x 9” and bolt up directly under the package tray.

I've used those dual voice coil speakers with Aurora conversions and they sound great. The one thing you need to keep in mind is they have a huge magnet.  My 300L radio is at Gary Tayman's right now as a matter of fact.

I'm going to use the 6x9 in the rear of the 300L (it's all mounted)  but I just found out the hard way it doesn't fit the front. The magnet is huge and it hits the dash frame and glove box.  Just be sure there's enough room on your 300K...  I'll bet there is.

Hi All,

I am working on the sound system for the 300K. I am going to get the Aurora conversion for my AM radio.

The front speaker hole is large enough to house the below I think:

My question is on the rear.  Does anyone have any photos of the rear speaker in the housing sitting on the rear seatback and any photos to show if there is a hole in the carboard separator so the speaker can sit into the trunk area?  Or, did the factory speaker fit projecting forward into the 300 housing between the seats?  There is only 1.5 inch in there between the framework and the black mounting plate.

I am hoping that the following may fit into the rear:

Thanks, James
