I am reasonably certain that switch is for an AC equipped car and will not work. I recall the same issue when I put my 61 Plymouth, no AC together. Turns out the most popular, the non-AC version of the switch is the hardest to find.
I believe the club website has a video on this. I bought one for "market price" from Andy Birnbaum.
